Class Weekly Update - 23rd May 2019

Mr Rutter - 23 May 2019

Our final week of this half term is nearly over! We can’t believe how quickly the year has gone.

Year 2 completed their Maths SATs this week, and we were very proud of how focused they have been! The Year 1 children were excited to spend some time with Reception this week. They have bene working on their fantastic story telling. The Year 2s have been working with Mr Donaldson between their SATs on a morning – this has been great preparation for their transition to KS2 in September. They have done lots of exciting things: I’ve heard about work on capacity and writing a local version of the Queen’s Hat (one of my favourites!).

We have been looking further at the Wind in the Willows, deciding whether we think Mr Toad deserves to go to prison for stealing a car. Most of the children decided that he deserved to go to prison, although we were all a little shocked that he was sentenced to 20 years in the book! Later in the week we have been writing our own chapters about what adventures Toad would get up to next.

In our RE work we looked at geometric Islamic art and discussed why Muslims do not decorate Mosques with images of animals and people. Then we created our own art in this style using different shapes.

Today we were very pleased to welcome the Headteacher candidates to our school and the children have been brilliant ambassadors for our community. The candidates spoke of how proud the children were of our school.

We hope you have a great half-term and we look forward to a successful end to the year.
