It has been another wonderful week in Palm Class. The children have been very busy in all their learning and working together and being very supportive as usual.

In Maths we have started a new topic on Decimals with Year 4 and we are revising some work on Mass and Capacity with Year 3. The children have been given lots of challenges and tricky learning but they have been shining like stars and really embracing the tasks.  We are having a big push on our times tables facts at the moment so please encourage your children to practise their TTRockstars as often as possible. Thank you - it really does help!

In English we have been continuing our work on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The children are loving the story and are really broadening their vocabulary with all the language discussions about words we are finding in the story.  We were finally introduced to Aslan this week and the children have been having great fun creating their own Aslan type character for their own story. We have had wolves, alligators, snakes, elephants and rabbits to create our own story with. I cannot wait to share some of the finished stories with you over the coming weeks.

In Science we have been looking at the best conditions for plants to grow. We have been busy making our own seed pots out of recycled newspaper and milk cartons. The seeds are currently getting off to a good start in the class propagator and as soon as we get roots and shoots we will send them home for you to plant out in your gardens or grow on your windowsills.

Our RE topic this term is looking at life in a Christian church. The children were astonished at all the diverse activities that go on within a church and its community. They found activities from Short Mat Bowling to Brownies going on throughout the week. It was a very interesting insight into a Christian community and how it comes together in all activities not just traditional worship on a Sunday morning. We have also been looking at the major role that music and singing plays within worship and how it can look very different in different churches.

Photographs this week are courtesy of Elizabeth and George. Thank you children they really help bring our learning to life!

Have a lovely weekend!
