Weekly Update - 4th October 2018

01 Oct 2018

The week got off to a great start with our collective worship in church. Mrs Jarvis did a great job at making us think about how we are all the same and different. We also had great fun when we returned from church on Monday afternoon - learning about different prehistoric homes. The children learnt about typical homes in the stone, bronze and iron ages and then presented role plays to help us learn about important aspects from these time periods. Please have a look at the photographs below!

In English we have also enjoyed plenty of opportunities for role play as we have started to learn about speech punctuation. The children worked in pairs to role play a conversation from 'Stone Age Boy'. We then learnt how to punctuate these sentences accurately. In our maths lessons we have continued to investigate negative numbers and have used our learning to solve problems. We have also returned to our knowledge of place value - introducing tenths and comparing them to the value of ones, tens and hundreds.

Thank you so much to all of those people who have put so much effort in to learning SMIRFS and reading at home. Little and often really does make such a difference!
