Weekly Update - 7th February 2019

06 Feb 2019

The week got off to a wonderful start - six of our children visited Outwood Academy to represent our school in the Key Steps Gymnastics competition. They came in a wonderful second place and are therefore through to the next round which takes place next Wednesday - we will be sure to let you know how they get on!

Back in the classroom we've had a busy week. In English we have continued to think about India and have worked on writing to inform. We have worked hard to collect notes and research Indian cities - thinking of titles and subtitles and beginning to draft and redraft our introductions. Our maths focus has continued to be area and perimeter. This week we have learnt to find the area by counting squares as well as the formulae for finding the area of rectangles. The Year 4's have worked on some tricky area and perimeter problems where they have had to use a range of calculation skills - with even a bit of algebra squeezed in as well!

We've worked hard in our art lessons by using holiday brochures to create collages of Indian sights. We'll be continuing this theme in our geography lessons next week by writing persuasively. We were also treated to a bonus P.E lesson on Wednesday with Mr Donaldson where we investigated dance and discovered the use of gesture in dance. Another wonderful week!
