Weekly Update- 10th October 2019

08 Oct 2019

The end of another brilliant week! Mrs Griffiths taught Palm Class on Monday morning and introduced the children to Roman numerals. The Y3 children have investigated putting them on clock faces and the Y4 children have used them to solve problems.

In our English lessons we have used Eden Camp as the inspiration for our writing. We’ve flexed our openers muscles and revised our understanding of commas in lists and wider list punctuation by redesigning the inside of the Eden Camp leaflet and describing the inside of each hut.

On Wednesday, the Year 3 children visited Holy Trinity Church in Ripon to attend ‘The Book Hullabaloo’ a great event organised by The Little Ripon Bookshop. It was amazing to meet real-life authors! The Year 4’s worked hard back in school with Mr Rutter learning about rationing.

Our Harvest Festival was also a fantastic service- thanks to the parents who joined us.

Some exciting reading challenges have begun this week...
We have introduced a whole-class reading challenge - the class with the highest percentage of reading at home 5 times a week will receive a 'Reading Class of the Week' award in next Friday's assembly (18th October).  I'm feeling confident that Palm will do well with this!  Please support your child by signing their planner every time you hear them read, or observe them reading to themselves.
