Weekly Update - 6th December 2019

03 Dec 2019

The week got off to a wonderful start with the carol concert at Holy Trinity. The children were really polished and gave a great performance - it was wonderful to see them joining forces with our friends from St Nicholas. It was also great to see so many parents joining us for the day. It really made us start to feel  Christmassy.

We have continued our statistics work in maths this week - learning to interpret and analyse data from charts and graphs. We have enjoyed getting 'stuck in' to answering questions independently and inferring information which might not be obvious! Next week we are going to continue our statistics learning by finding out more about tables in Year 3 and line graphs in Year 4.

In English we have enjoyed getting persuasive! We have planned a persuasive argument - using Ahmet's situation in our class book as inspiration. After thinking about points to argue and backing these up with evidence, we have started to draft letters to the government about the plight of refugees.

In History our WW2 topic is drawing to a close - we have investigated what happened at the end of the war and how this was celebrated. We used Lowry's 'VE Day' paiting to investigate form and line in art, before using his techniques to plan our own 'black pen' art work. In R.E today the children have started to find out more about Mary - using art as inspiration and completing their own research.

Many thanks to those people who have brought in socks and buttons - please do keep sending them in!
