Slide Show

We have had a lovely week in Palm Class. Last Friday we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day with the reopening of our school library. The children were very excited to be able to choose a library book for the first time in a long while.  We read lots of stories together and enjoyed more tales of Podkin with hot chocolate and marshmallows. Yummy! The children brought lots of fabulous props with them to signify their favourite stories. We had very imaginative items from the pyramids to the Arkenstone.  Palm children also had lots of fun playing charades with classic book titles.

Our English work continues around the book ‘The Matchbox Diary’ and I have set the children some homework to think about what small items they would include in their own matchboxes.  See our homework page for more details.

In History our topic of Prehistoric Britain is coming to an end. The children have worked so hard and this week, have been designing their own Stone Age Settlement. It has been a super topic and the children have learned so many historical terms. I have been astonished by their terrific memories.

Our fitness continues to go from strength to strength and I am delighted with our skipping progress. From children who had never even picked up a skipping rope before to all the fancy skipping tricks that they can do now – amazing!

In Maths we have finishing our topic on money and starting fractions. Not an easy topic I think you will agree but the children were resilient and kept going and surprised themselves with how well they did and how confident they are becoming. Well done!

Don’t forget Red Nose Day tomorrow and to wear something red with your PE kit if possible.

Have a lovely weekend!
