Weekly Update 6th December 2018

Mrs Wolfe - 06 Dec 2018

We started the week thinking about letter writing, as some very important letters were required to request a Christmas tree for the school hall!  For many years, the Abrahams family have kindly donated a tree to the school.  Every year the tree really makes the school hall look magnificent.  So, a batch of letters is now making its way to the Abraham household, written by Cedar pupils.

We have been reflecting on our maths assessments and looking at areas of improvement.  I have been really impressed with how pupils are able to identify their next steps and talk about how they can improve.

We began our advent learning on Monday and are spending each day reflecting on the meaning of Christmas.  This year, as part of our advent celebrations we are taking part in the Bible Society’s Advent Challenge.  There are 24 acts of kindness to show those around us that Christmas means more than they might have first thought.  Each day we will reflect on a challenge and make practical action to help us reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.  There are four main themes:
  • List and clues
  • Megaphones – looking at the old and new testaments
  • God in the world
  • God in the universe
If you would like to take part as a family or an individual follow the link below to join in; actions and reflections will be sent to your email each day.  Have fun and enjoy Advent

Our weekly class worship in class was led by Erin and Lily today.  They explored our theme of respect further by sharing bible stories and creating a class prayer about respect – very well done girls.

Thank you to all who attended our Ingleborough Information Evening last night.  It was great to see the children getting so excited and is set to be a brilliant trip.  If you were unable to attend please let me know ASAP.

Tomorrow we will be spending some time with pupils from St Nicholas, who are joining us for our Christmas arts and crafts morning.  We are looking forward to getting festive and spending time with friends.

Reminders:
  • Ingleborough medical forms to be returned ASAP
  • Christmas Lunch on 14th December – pay £1 to wear your Christmas jumper for the day and raise money for Save the Children
  • KS2 Sharing Day on 17th December – pupils can dress up as a Roman for the day and bring in ‘Roman’ food
  • Friends Christmas Disco on 19th December  – 3:30-6pm
  • KS2 Christmas Treat Day on 20th December
