Exciting news!!!!!!!!!!
As
you will know, Sara Cox at Radio 2 is undertaking this year’s BBC Radio 2 Children in Need Challenge to raise money for children and young people across the UK.
Sara’s Great Northern Marathon Challenge is Radio 2’s longest-ever – FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS! She’ll travel 135 miles on foot (five marathons) across four counties – starting in the Kielder Forest, and finishing in Pudsey, Leeds, to celebrate 40 years of Pudsey Bear.
Sara will be
coming through Kirkby Malzeard on Thursday 13th November at around 2.10pm and we have been invited to line the streets and cheer her on!
We have also been asked to do a ‘cheer lead welcome’ for her at Ivy bank Campsite where she will be stopping for a break.
The children are very excited about this.
We plan on taking any Cedar or Palm children who are happy to go, up to Ivy Bank to perform their cheer for Sara. The rest of the children from school will be lining the road outside of school to cheer Sara on.
We will need permission for this from you, and will also need permission from you for the BBC to film this. Should you not wish for your child to take part in this and be filmed, they can stay in school as throughout her marathon journey Sara’s being followed by a documentary crew.
The children should come to school in uniform that day, but may bring any children in need t shirts, onesies, crazy outfits, signs made for Sara to cheer her on, banners, head wear etc to change into at lunchtime.
We would also welcome any parent volunteers to help marshal the event. You would need to be available from 1.15pm on the day.
Please can we ask that you complete the following:
The online permission form from school
- all children from school to complete.
This will be sent in an email shortly and should be completed for all children who wish to attend.
For Palm and Cedar children, you will also need to complete the BBC permission form (link below) so your child can be filmed at Ivy bank.

These needs completing online or paper copies can be collected and returned via class teachers.
All permissions or returns should be completed
no later than Friday at 9am. Apologies for the short notice, but this has only just been agreed and supplied today and all forms need returning to the BBC asap.
If you feel you can help out on the day, please let us know via the permission form.
Thank you for your support.
