World Book Day
Mrs Wolfe - 04 Mar 2022
We had an absolutely fantastic World Book Day and it was fabulous to see so many parents and carers joining us in the hall to share our special red carpet event. The children looked fantastic and it was brilliant to see their enthusiasm for reading.
A huge thank you to our librarians, who did a wonderful job organising the event. Following the red carpet show, they ran activites in the library for each year group, which included making bookmarks, quizzes, charades and more! They were brilliant and we are very proud of their efforts and the time they put in to running our library, as well as promoting the importance of reading throughout school. They are such fabulous ambassadors for reading at our school.
Your child will have returned home today with a family WBD book token, which can be used to obtain another free WBD book, or alternatively use it as a voucher towards a book of their choice.
We have also sent home some free gifts from local children's author, Stephen J. Ward, who has kindly donated some of his books to the school. The books, which follow a football theme, are suitable for KS2 children, therefore we have sent other free gifts from the author home for Acorn and Oak pupils to enjoy. Palm parents may wish to read these books with their children, whereas Cedar pupils will probably be able to access the stories and themes independently.
Watch this space for photos of our fantastic day, which we will be uploading next week.
