Weekly update and the new year
This is our final weekly update this term. Thank you for all your support this term. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas break and new year. School
closes at 2pm on Friday 22nd December and
reopens on Tuesday 9th January 2024.
Acorn & Oak Nativity
Emails have been sent to parents regarding costumes and tickets, please make sure you respond to the ticket email promptly so that spare tickets can be reallocated. If you have requested additional tickets we will be in touch about these on Monday. If you have any questions please see Mrs Pawson.
Change of Date
KS2 Leavers Play will now take place on Wednesday 10th July at 2pm and 5.30pm (previously scheduled for Tuesday 9
th).
Science Workshop
On Tuesday 9
th January we have another Science Workshop, this time on Electricity with Wild Science. The children will be: discussing being safe around electricity, making and testing different circuits and investigating different electrical components. It should be a wonderful session with lots of hands-on activities and learning.
Forest School Wednesday - Oak Class
In the new term Oak will have their forest school sessions on a Wednesday. The first session is Wednesday 10
th January 2024. Please see a full forest school kit list below.
Parent Meeting for Reading
On Wednesday 10th January 2024 at 3:30pm there will be a parents meeting for reading at St Nicholas school for Reception and Years 1 & 2. This is open to both schools

Forest School Friday
To support our Golden Thread further, Helen will be running a morning forest school session for each class on a Friday morning based around Life Long Readers. Please see a full forest school kit list below.
Dates are as follows:
Friday 12th January 2024 - Cedar Class
Friday 19th January 2024 - Palm Class
Friday 26th January 2024 - Acorn class
Christmas Lunch & Christmas Jumper Day
We are serving our Christmas lunch on Thursday 21st December 2023, please come dressed in normal school uniform, but wearing your Christmas jumper. Please bring a £1.00 in support of Save the Children who we are raising money for.
School Carol Service @ St Andrews Church
Our school Carol service will take place on
Friday 22nd December. Families are invited to join us from
12:30pm. The 'friends' will be providing refreshments and the service will begin at 1pm. We will then return to school to dismiss the children from their classes.
Spare Clothes and Uniform for KS2
We are restocking the KS2 spare clothing. If you have any of the following items of clothing in the specified ages that you no longer need, we would be delighted to accept these. Please pass them onto Miss Oates. Thank you
Ages 6-7: pants, trousers/joggers
Ages 8-9: pants, shorts, trousers/joggers, t-shirts (PE or polo)
Ages 10-12: pants, joggers, t-shirts
Christmas Cards
Polite reminder...please may Christmas cards clearly label on the envelope which class (Acorn, Oak, Palm, Cedar) the recipient is in. We have duplicate names across school and we would hate for the cards to not get to the right person. Thank you.
School Christmas tree
This year we are making a Christmas tree from our favourite recommended reads. Please can children bring into school a named book they are happy to use to make our tree, books will be returned at the end of term. Please can books come to school on Friday 15
th December 2023.
Reminders…
Message from Friends
Father Christmas and his reindeers are coming to Kirkby Malzeard school on the 18th of December at 3.45pm. Tickets are £5.00 each (£2.50 per additional sibling) and available from each class's Friends representative. Parents will need to accompany their children. There will be crafts and refreshments from 3.45pm in the Whizz Kids building with Father Christmas arriving from 4.30pm.
Last fundraiser for the year is the Christmas Raffle with amazing prizes and hampers to win!!! Your class representatives will give out raffle tickets for you to sell. The prizes are Christmas Treat Hampers. If anyone can donate any treats for the hampers please give to your class representative before the 20th of December.
