Arrangements for Thursday – Sara Cox’s great Northern Marathon Challenge

A huge thank you to the many parents who have volunteered; we are really grateful for this and would like to invite everyone who has done so to come along and enjoy the afternoon with us. You will be placed with your child’s class but will be given a group to oversee on the walk to the campsite or to supervise whilst spectating on the road. If you have children in multiple classes, we will contact you to confirm which Key Stage you are with.
For Cedar and Palm parents, please arrive at the main entrance for 1.15pm.
For Oak and Acorn parents please arrive at the main entrance for 1.30pm.
Please note, updated timings may be sent later in the week and we will keep you informed if we receive these.
You can follow Sara’s journey tracker here:
https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/shows/saratracker/
Timings for the afternoon are fluid, so please bear with us!
Sara is planned to arrive around 2.10pm to run past school and then to Ivy bank Campsite for her break.
Oak and Acorn children will be on the pavement outside school to cheer her on. Please feel free to makes signs, send flags, bells anything that will create an atmosphere and buzz to support Sara on her run up the hill.
Palm and Cedar Class will be at Ivy bank to perform a very short cheer/jingle for her as requested by her producers. We will leave school at 1.20pm to make sure we are in good time in case she is early, and so we can get positioned and have a practice. We may take the route over the fields so sensible footwear is required.
As we said timings are fluid, and it maybe that we are all late returning to school from the campsite/roadside if Sara is running late.
We have spoken to Atkinsons who have kindly agreed that if needs be, they can hold the bus off for another 10-15 minutes. This means that the bus children may also be late home.
If the above arrangement causes any inconvenience for any parent, and your child cannot have a later collection, please contact your child’s class teacher by email asap and we will contact you to agree a different collection arrangement.
On reflection, we have decided that it is easier for children to come to school in their children in need outfits rather than changing at lunch time. Please ensure that your child comes to school on Thursday morning wearing something around this year’s theme or something spotty or yellow. They can then wear these again to school on Friday too.
Thank you for your support, we are looking forward to a fun afternoon!
