Weekly Update Thursday 4th December 2025

25 Nov 2025

Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

New this week…

Spotlights from Learning…

Acorn Class
This week we have been thinking about our Nativity story 'Knock, Knock, it's the Nativity!' we are all excited about this. We have also been thinking about what a Geographer does and the skills they might need. We have thought about where we live, I wonder if anyone can investigate and learn their own address this weekend? We have also written and told some wonderful stories based on our book 'Space Tortoise'.

Oak Class
Oak class have loved exploring structures, before designing and making a model chair for Pudsey Bear. Ask your child how they made their super chair stable and strong.

Palm Class
Over the past two weeks, palm class have started their new writing unit based on the story of the three little pigs. It has been super exciting as we had an interview with the big bad wolf to help us get started. Something wasn't quite as it seemed though - ask your child what is different about the story we will be telling in our writing.

Cedar Class
We have loved learning all about the circulatory system in Science this week and how to stay healthy. Ask your child if they can tell you the three main parts of the circulatory system we having been learning about, can they tell you the three main ways to maintain a healthy body?

Community Lunch Club
On Tuesday this week over 60 children volunteered to go and sing at the community lunch club. They were delighted to see us agin this year. We sang Christmas songs and two special happy birthdays. Thank you to everyone who volunteered - you mad elots of people very happy and really showed our Christian values in action.

Also this week...

Acorn and Oak Theatre Trip (Friday 12th December)
There will be a separate email coming out with all the details needed - keep an eye out for this.

Forest School Friday
To support our Golden Threads, Helen will be running a morning forest school session for each class on a Friday morning. Dates are as follows:
  • Friday 5th December 2025 (tomorrow) – Palm (Please come dressed in forest school clothing and bring your warm outdoor PE kit to get changed into)
  • Friday 12th December 2025 – Cedar
Children should come in comfy, warm clothes suitable for forest school. They will need long trousers, water proofs and wellies. Please send uniform in a bag for the afternoon session.

Christmas Card Post box
It is that time of year again! Our Christmas card post box is set up in the hall ready to receive cards. These will be collected and sorted by school council and delivered to classes. If your child would like to send cards to children in school using our post box, please help them to clearly write names and the class (Acorn, Oak, Palm, Cedar) on the envelopes. (This helps with confusion across school when there are multiple children with the same name and developing hanwriting.)

Nativity
The children in Acorn and Oak classes are continuing to work on their Nativity; there will be performances at 2pm and 5pm on Tuesday 16th December.  Scripts will be coming home soon - please help your child to learn their lines. Teachers will be in touch with information nearer the time around costumes and tickets.

Patronal Festival
Thank you to all that attended the patronal festival last weekend. The children who sang made us very proud. We also had pupils from our school working alongside the 'Friends' to sell Christmas decorations and raise money for the school. They raised an amazing £128 - thank you so much to everyone who supported.

Warm waterproof clothing
With the change in weather please can children come to school prepared to be outside in all weathers, even if children do not want to come to school wearing a coat, can they bring one with them, as we never know who the weather will change during the day.  Hats, scarves and gloves all need to be named please.

School Council Pyjama Appeal
Thank you to everyone who donated PJs to this appeal. The collections have now closed and we will be sending them to the charity tomorrow. Thank you to the school council for all their organising of this.
Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news.  Attached is a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.  There is a new sheet each week.

Headlice- NITS
We have a significant outbreak of headlice in school, please can we ask everyone to check hair throughout families and treat all cases over the weekend. A reminder that a follow up treatment is needed a week later to ensure all eggs and lice are treated. A nit comb is also advisable to remove dead eggs and lice from hair after treatment.
