09 Feb 2026
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
New this week…
Please note our weekly update will now be sent out on Friday mornings.
Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news. Attached in a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.

Spotlights from Learning…
Homework
Our class homework pages have been updated. Please take a moment to look at the page for your class. If you have any questions, please speak to your child's class teacher.
Poetry and word of the week
We will be back with a new poem of the week and word of the week after half term.
During half term why not challenge yourself to learn a poem by heart? There are lots of great hints and tips to help you on the 'Poetry By Heart' website. You could share your work in school during our first reading buddies after the break!

Acorn Class
In Acorn Class this week we have been finding out about hot places and what it might be like to live on or near to the equator, we have been continuing our weather watch in school and are hopeful for some different weather to record soon, perhaps you could record the weather over half term, especially if you are going away.
We have also all been writing our fact files for an animal the lives in Antarctica, I wonder if you can wow your families with your amazing knowledge!
Oak Class
Thank you for sending children with baby photos and measurements this week. Isn't it amazing how humans change and develop so much in such a short time. We have also been exploring healthy balanced diets this week. I wonder whether you could plan a lunch using food from each of the 5 food groups over the school holidays (vegetables and fruit, carbohydrates, proteins, dairy (or dairy alternative) and fats and oils. Ask your child which of these food groups you should limit or have the least of and which you should have the most of during the day?
Palm Class
We have been busy as always securing our 'key facts' in maths. Year 3s have been doing great exploring and securing their understanding of the structure of their numbers to 10 and building their automaticity with these. Year 4s are busy 'going for gold' learning their multiplication key facts. We are exploring the structure of two new facts each week and then practising these to automaticity. Don't forget to look at the homework section on the Palm Class page with ways to support your child build automaticity with their key facts at home. Year 4s currently have a tournament battle going on TTRS - playing in any mode will add points to their team's total and this will stay in play over the holidays.
Cedar Class
This week in Cedar we have enjoyed learning about the life cycle of a flowering plant. We have compared this interesting life cycle with in a life cycle of an independently chosen animal of our choice. Why not ask your child, if they can explain to you the life cycle of a flowering plant and how this differs from another animals life cycle? Can they tell you what elements of the two life cycles are the same?

Reminders…
Wellies and Trainers
We have noticed that some children’s feet have grown, please don’t forget to check wellies and trainers in school. Thank you.
Headlice/nits
We have several cases of headlice in school, please can you check your family’s hair and treat as necessary. Local pharmacists are a very helpful source of information and can advise on which treatment is currently the most effective in our area. Please follow the instructions on the treatment carefully and don’t forget to retreat your family, this is usually required a week after the first treatment.
Warm/Waterproof coats
It has been very cold and wet this week, we like to spend as much time outside as possible, children do need to have a warm waterproof coat with them every day.
Packed Lunches
Please can we remind parents of all children to continue to cut grapes and similar items such as
cherry tomatoes to reduce the risk of choking for all children. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe.
Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing Updates…
School Car Park - Please do not park in the school car park. This is for health and safety reasons as space is very limited. We appreciate your co-operation with keeping everyone safe.
Safety on site
A polite reminder to keep to the footpaths around the school site and avoid walking on the grass when arriving at and leaving the school site, several areas of grass near to the footpaths are now coned off as they are very slippery and dangerous.
A reminder that playing on the grass at the front of school and climbing on the walls is not safe for anyone and is therefore not allowed. Thank you for helping us too keep our children safe around school.
