Weekly Update Friday 17th April 2026
16 Apr 2026
Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
New this week…
Changes to breakfast club provision:
As breakfast club is becoming increasingly popular, we have reviewed the provision to ensure we can continue to open this provision to everyone who needs this, and therefore will be making the following changes.
Breakfast club will continue to run from 7.30 am – 8.45 am
but breakfast will only be served until 8am.
Should you wish for your child to have breakfast, they will need to arrive before this time. If you plan on dropping your child/ren after this time, please ensure they have had breakfast before they arrive to school.
These changes will be effective from
Monday 16th March 2026.
Thank you for your support.
School photographs
You should be receiving your child’s photograph via email directly from the photographer.
Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news. Attached in a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.

Spotlights from Learning…
Acorn Class
This week we have been busy ‘sheep tracking’ our learning from previous terms, helping our learning to grow and to stick. In Year One amongst other things we have been revisiting the work of Picasso in Year 1 and have created our own works of art in his style, in EYFS we have been looking back at photos of some of the things we have already done and thinking about our next learning adventures.
Oak Class
Oak Class have had a great start to the Summer term and enjoyed learning about the Arctic and Antarctic in Geography. Next week we will be starting a new text to inspire our writing, Little Red Reading Hood by Lucy Rowland and Ben Mantle. In the story, Little Red Reading Hood has a love of books and returns some books to the library. We will be thinking about what library settings are like. It would be great if you could arrange a visit to your local library and email in photos of your visit. Perhaps you could look for some non-fiction books to learn more about the Arctic and Antarctica.
Palm Class
This week we have been doing some fabulous ‘sheep-tracking’ of our learning as well as our school rules, Christian values and school vision. We had a fabulous treasure hunt to help us think about our school vision – I wonder if your child can remember what it is and what it means and why we have a vision as a school?
Cedar Class
We have been learning about the Tudor family tree. Ask us what we know about some of the families.
Science Workshops
In school this week and next every child will be taking part in interactive Science Workshops, we really value looking at our learning from different perspectives and with different people, KS2 have explored Space via virtual reality headsets; they took a tour around the different planets in the solar system toady and EYFS and Year 1 will explore materials in their workshop on Monday.
Striking Games
Some Year 6 pupils will be taking part in a Striking Games competition at Outwood on Wednesday, those involved will receive a separate email with details of the event.
After school clubs

nd March, Guitar Club and Crafty Conservation Club are being carried over to 20

Sporting Influence
Year Five have had the opportunity this week to work with Sporting Influence; they have been focused on nurturing their sports leadership training.

Wellies and Trainers
We have noticed that some children’s feet have grown, we will be sending wellies and trainers home over the holiday for you to check them and return them to school after the break. Thank you.
Headlice/nits
We have several cases of headlice in school, please can you check your family’s hair and treat as necessary. Local pharmacists are a very helpful source of information and can advise on which treatment is currently the most effective in our area. Please follow the instructions on the treatment carefully and don’t forget to retreat your family, this is usually required a week after the first treatment.
Warm/Waterproof coats
It has been a little warmer and we have even seen the sun this week, however, we like to spend as much time outside as possible, children do need to have a warm waterproof coat with them every day to keep us warm, dry and happy outside.
Packed Lunches
Please can we remind parents of all children to continue to cut grapes and similar items such as
cherry tomatoes to reduce the risk of choking for all children. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe.
Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing Updates…
School Car Park - Please do not park in the school car park. This is for health and safety reasons as space is very limited. We appreciate your co-operation with keeping everyone safe.
Safety on site
A polite reminder to keep to the footpaths around the school site and avoid walking on the grass when arriving at and leaving the school site, several areas of grass near to the footpaths are now coned off as they are very slippery and dangerous.
A reminder that playing on the grass at the front of school and climbing on the walls is not safe for anyone and is therefore not allowed. Thank you for helping us too keep our children safe around school.
