Weekly Update Friday 11th September 2026

11 Sep 2026

Our Vision

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

New this week…

Welcome back to a brand-new school year! I hope you all enjoyed a restful and happy summer break with your families.
It has been wonderful to see the school open again, filled with the energy, smiles, and enthusiasm of our returning pupils. A very warm, special welcome goes to our new families joining us this term. We are delighted to welcome you into our school community and look forward to watching your children settle in and make new friends.

We firmly believe that education is a partnership between school and home. Thank you in advance for your continued support and collaboration as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.

We look forward to welcoming parents into school over the coming year to share the learning, join our community and see the exciting opportunities available for our pupils.

With this in mind we would welcome your input on some opportunities we would like to offer parents over the coming academic year. Please look out for a parent survey next week about this.

Please also take a look at our class pages where the learning letters and newsletter have now been uploaded. The children have been so proud of their new classrooms they have also recorded a virtual tour for you too!

Wishing everyone a fantastic, successful, and happy year ahead and a great weekend.

Mrs Taylor

Reading Meeting for parents of Reception and Year One children
Mrs Pawson will be holding a meeting for Reception and Year One parents about how reading is taught in school and ways to help your child with reading at home on Monday 21st September at 3.45pm in the school hall.
If you can't make this time, Mrs Pawson will be repeating the meeting at St Nicholas School at 5 pm and you are welcome to attend this meeting instead.

Diary Dates

Our school calendar has been updated with key dates so far, but please keep an eye out next week for newly added dates, including upcoming parent engagement events and educational school visits.

Arbor

Thank you for your patience whilst we migrated over to Arbor. From Monday, all lunches, clubs and wrap around care need to be booked via this system. For those parents who are entitled to a free meal, please ensure you still log onto Arbor to make your lunch selection.
After school clubs are still open for booking and there are still spaces available for KS2 Football and KS2 Netball if your child would like to take part.

Allergens in school, lunches and snacks
Just a reminder we have the following allergens in school and ask that these are not sent in in lunch boxes:
Nuts of any kind, peas, all types of beans, lentils, chickpeas.

Please can all small fruit (grapes, strawberries etc) be chopped up into quarters in lunch boxes.

Forest School
Forest school starts next Friday morning with Oak Class in the forest.

Spotlights from Learning…

Acorn
We are very proud of all the children in Acorn class this week. Year One have been amazing role models and everyone who is new to school has settled in and enjoyed lots of fabulous adventures already. We can’t wait for next week, after a little rest!

Oak Class
We have had an exciting first week back in Oak Class! The children have done a fantastic job learning their new morning routines as a Year 2 and Year 3 class, and they even created a video tour of the classroom, which you can find on our class webpage. Throughout the week, we explored our school vision and discussed British values. We also kicked off our "sheep tracking" by creating beautiful collage artwork and designing moving creatures using levers and pivots. Next week, we will be starting a new Art topic with observational drawing of autumn fruits and vegetables. It will also be our turn for forest school next Friday morning 18th September.

Palm
What a brilliant start to the year! Palm class have worked super hard this week getting used to the new routines and structures – we are super excited to get started. We have sheep-tracked our learning around the 3Bs, British Values and our school vision. The children have all set themselves targets for the year ahead which I cannot wait to see them work towards but have also thought about the impact they can have on the world beyond themselves. However, I think we are most excited about our new reading corner and all the reading adventures we will be going on this year!

Cedar Class
Cedar class have made a fantastic start to the new school year this week, doing a wonderful job settling into our new routines and adapting to life in our new year groups. It has been especially wonderful to see Cedar step into their buddy roles with the reception children. They are showing themselves to be fantastic role models, offering kind reassurance and a friendly face to our newest, youngest learners.

In our PSHE lessons this week, we have been exploring the topic of different family relationships, sharing thoughtful insights and discussing what makes a family special.

Reminders…

Every Friday a separate email with a link will be sent to all parents. Please note this form needs to be submitted by the following Monday by 9.00am. We will no longer be accepting changes by phone or email. If your child is attending clubs and remaining in school, they don’t need adding to the rota. Please put your child's name on each of the days your child is travelling home on the bus and which bus they require ie

Child's Name - Big bus (Laverton)
or
Child's Name – Little bus (Dallowgill)

Please use a separate form for each child travelling.

If you would like your child to travel on the school bus please go onto the NYCC website and look under School and College Transport for all the information on how to apply.
