Weekly Update 21st September 2023

21 Sep 2023

Weekly update Friday 22nd September 2023

Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

New this week…

Website and Email Communication
As you may be aware, we have been experiencing difficulties with the website which has impacted on parents receiving messages from school to certain types of email accounts.

This problem does not lie with school but with the website provider and Microsoft.
Our website provider is aware of this problem and is working hard to find solutions to this for us whilst investigating further more long term solutions with Microsoft.

Moving forward, to ensure that all parents receive the communication needed, the website provider is implementing one solution which will be in place by early next week.

Once this is in place, we will contact parents to communicate these changes and with any information you need moving forward. This will be sent home by email, as a paper copy and posted to the website to ensure everyone receives this.

We thank parents for their patience whilst the provider rectifies the situation.

Advertising School

We are currently advertising and promoting school to prospective parents. We would welcome your support in this. If you can drop a poster off to any appropriate places where they may be seen by parents of young children, please drop into reception to collect one.

School Library
Thank you to everyone who responded to our plea and hunted for their school library books from home. We are now in a position to open up the library again. We have cleared the loan records so that everyone is starting without outstanding loans. Please support our school library by helping your child to carefully look after their school books and return them when they are finished.

School Uniform
We are already gathering quite a supply of lost property from across the school. Please help us get uniform and belongings back to their owners by clearly labelling everything. Thank you.

Message for Oak Class families
We are learning about how to write an address as part of our geography topic. We would appreciate if all the children in Oak class could be supported at home to try and learn their home address for our geography lesson next week. If they need to bring it in with them to remember, then that's fine. Thank you very much - Miss Mackenzie.

Reminders...

Jeans for Genes Day

On Friday 22nd September we will be celebrating Jeans for Genes Day. Please wear your jeans (or similar) and non-uniform to school.  If you are happy to make a donation of £1.00 to this charity, please send it in with your child on this day, thank you in advance.

The Jeans for Genes campaign raises awareness of the daily challenges faced by those living with a genetic condition and raises money to fund projects that make a tangible difference to the lives of those affected.
Most importantly, the campaign:
  • brings together the genetic condition community in order to make a loud noise about the issues that matter to them;
  • shines a light on the organisations that work tirelessly to improve the lives of affected individuals;
  • celebrates the achievements of those living with a genetic condition.
Please take a look at their Funding in Action page to learn more about the lasting impact your Jeans for Genes donations make.

Talking to your child about online safety

Below is a link to a useful resource produced by NSPCC. It helps with how to start the conversation, risks online, tackling difficult conversations and age-appropriate conversations.
