10 Nov 2023
Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
New this week…
Children in Need
On Friday 17th November, we will be raising money for Children in Need. Keep an eye out for further information and details.
Parent Meeting for PSHE Year 3/4/5/6
Parents of children in years 3/4/5/6 are invited to a meeting in school on Tuesday 14
th November at 5pm. The meeting will be about the Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum.
PSHE helps pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. These skills and attributes help pupils to stay healthy, safe and prepare them for life in modern Britain.
There will be a presentation on the curriculum followed by an opportunity to ask questions about this, and how to further support your child with any questions they may have.
Parent Meeting for Reading Y2/3/4/5/6
There will be a meeting for parents about reading on Wednesday 15
th November at 5.30pm at St Nicholas school or on Thursday 16th November at 3:30pm at Kirkby Malzeard school, this is for all parents of children in Years Two, Three, Four, Five and Six. Parents are welcome to attend at either school. We will be discussing everything you need to know about how your child learns to read in school and how you can support them at home. We will also be looking at the exciting changes that are happening within our KS2 reading. This is an important meeting and we encourage people to come and find out more.
Swimming
Staff at the pool have informed us that swim caps are now £2.50 and must be worn at all times.
Swimming lessons are continuing this half term on a
Wednesday for Years 2 and 3.
The children will return from swimming at the end of the day, the estimated return time for collection is between
3.35-3.40pm.
We thank parents in advance for settling their Parent Pay accounts as soon as possible.
Parent and Family Book Club
We all agreed that our last read ‘Stole Focus’ was a must-read book for everyone- it is also available as an audio book and free to listen to if you join the library service.
Our next read will be ‘When the Parents Change Everything Changes’ by Paul Dix, this was suggested after our behaviour policy meeting- and it’s a great idea!
Some the research which underpins our whole school behaviour policy is based around the work that Paul Dix has done in schools so this book will be a really interesting read for everyone!
If you would like to read along with us or to order a copy of the book at a discounted rate please see Mrs Pawson in person or email gpawson@kirkbymalzeard.n-yorks.sch.uk
When we know who would like to join us with this read we can arrange a time to meet to chat about the book.
